Houston Pakistan won Aziz Rehmatulla Tournament – Umar Akmal 120 Not Out

This is first time I have seen any live Cricket game involving an International Cricketer and what an exhilarating experience to watch the sheer power and technique of International Cricketer. Umar Akmal did not disappoint me with his batting performance. It was very kind and humble gesture by him to not only attend this game as Chief Guest but to Bowl, Field and Bat. I don’t know who won the toss but Houston Indians batted first and were scoring very freely at almost 12 run an over. Ankit and Jatin played awesome innings and have scored 60+ each. Susheel, USA Cricket captain was unlucky to rue the feast and got out on zero. To watch the Pictured slideshow of game click on player below.

The Indian batting was strong and kept scoring about 10 runs an over except for last 3-4 overs. They managed to score 199 in alloted 20 overs.Umar Akmal along with Zain came in to bat as opener for Houston Pakistanis and started scoring boundaries straight away. Zain (left handers) boundary and a six in 2nd over of game gave us a hint on whats in store for rest of the game. Pakistanis were 51 for no loss in 5 overs. The way Akmal and Zain were playing, you could not guess that they were going 10 an over until you see the scoreboard. Runs started to come from both ends and within few more overs pakistan were 120+ for no loss when Zain was out caught in covers. Majid who took an amazing full stretched dive catch on Mid On came as 1st down and little rusty for few overs but was rotating the strike very well and giving Akmal most of the strike to hit boundaries. Majid started hitting cleanly around 13th over. In the meantime, Akmal moved to his hundred and it felt as if no effort was needed for him to reach there. He did had a life around 60 when his catch was dropped on Mid-off but apart from that, he just cruised to the score of 120+ and hit gigantic Six on the long off when 4 runs were required to win from 3 overs and sealed the Victory for Houston Pakistan in 17 overs.
**Please note that the scores I have mentioned are not exact since I do not have scorecard with me when I am writing this blog but they are very close to actual scores of the game.
I would also like to thank on behalf of all Desi Community to Aziz Rehmatulla Saab’s Family for bringing this huge game for us in Houston and he not only organized the Cricket game but also had the Family Picnic with free food, games for kids and tonnes of other things for entire families to participate.
Thank you to Umar Akmal for accepting the Invitation, coming and playing in such a minor game in comparision to the ODIs and T20 International Cricket. He surely have gained immense popularity among Desi’s of Houston and we surely will be praying and rooting for you when you play International games. Best of Luck and May Allah give you Success in Cricket and personal life as well.
