If your company uses SBOP Explorer 4.2, you need to read this. There is a potential showstopper in SAP 4.2 SP5. The error we see on the charts is “It was not possible to generate the chart.”

This particular issue is breaking the widgets in the exploration view sets where it uses 2 dimensions (charts as well as tables). Also, note that this starts happening only when you index the information space in the latest service pack 5. At that point on, all the dependent exploration view sets and any new exploration view sets based out of the information space starts showing this error (Can’t generate the chart. PS 50002)

The resolution is to install the Fix Pack 100 and the software for this Fix Pack again about 6.2 GB (5 GB + of BI platform and 700MB+ of Explorer). It takes a while to install this, especially considering the sequential install in a clustered environment.
