Future of Business Inteligence aka Data Science
It has been a while since I started my career as developer looking at data in different forms and formats. Doing the critical thinking and then coming up with presentable way which end users can easily understand and make their daily decisions. During this vast period (About 14+ years to date) I have spent, doing Reporting and Data Analysis, I can assure you that I have never felt that I am doing the same stuff day in and out. It is always something new you would need to do and this makes your job most satisfying. In this article I would like to list tidbits based on my experiences I have gained over the period working in BI.
Giving you challenges on regular basis is the beauty of working in Business Intelligence. There are no set boundaries if you are in field of BI and by constantly challenging what you are doing, it helps individual to be Innovative, thinking out-of-box and question yourself on how this could be improved. Some of the things relate directly to what we as humans strive to do, that is to make our tomorrow better than today. If you follow this rule as BI Developer or Data Scientist or Analyst, you will have bright chances of making a mark.
Making your decisions based on thorough understanding of where you stand and chances where you could land if you make the move is in essence a good decision based on facts. For centuries people consult between each other to make better decisions. The point of discussing is to gain others perspective because we sometimes do not see what others are looking at. What that means is that the data you have is analyzed from one perspective and having opinion from others help you analyze it in other ways. Similarly, Business Intelligence is not just looking at your data in one dimension but to provide you with analysis from multiple dimensions.
If you consider above facts, you can easily see that the future of Business Intelligence is bright as there is always going to be need to look and analyze data in different ways and continue to build on it. The vendors who are in this area are investing huge resources and money in building the tools which would help the corporations do this at level not imagine before.
