Creation of LOVs in Business Objects Universe
This Post details on how to build LOVs within Universe and use them in Crystal Reports. The benefit of building LOVs in a Universe is that you do not have to maintain these LOVs using Business Views and CMC. The LOVs will be part of the Universe on which you are building the report and gets migrated as part of the Universe. Also, these are Dynamic prompts and does not need to be scheduled to refresh. These LOVs get the values when Universe object is called (that is when the report is run). It is very simple to use as well.
Also, starting with “Crystal Reports for Enterprise”, the users have to use “Universe (UNX)” as datasource as it does not support reporting on any other datasource. Please note, I am talking about “Crystal Reports for Enterprise” and not Crystal Reports 2011.
